About us

Joshua Echabu is a social worker and has experience working with malnourished children in Jinja at a non-profit organisation called Home Sweet Home. His mother was born and raised in Namalu. After a 6-year-old nephew became malnourished, he realized the people of his own origin are living in harsh conditions and struggle to keep their kids healthy. Since he and his family have been supported by an organization themselves, which made a positive impact in his life, he feels the desire to give back and also be meaningful to other families.

Matthea Struijk was born and raised in the Netherlands. She came to Uganda for the first time in September 2021, to volunteer for a year as a teacher at Home Sweet Home, where she met Joshua. After some time, Joshua shared the plans he had for Namalu and she started to support him in that. Living in Uganda made her realize she was fortunate to grow up in a family which could provide for her what she needed. She has the wish to help families who don’t have the same for their children.

Help change the lives of children and families in Namalu.
